That was a big journey! Within the collaborative project of CRC 1208, Atha studied the biogenesis of the virulence-associated lipase A of human pathogen Pseudomonas aeruginosa. Unexpectedly, we found out that the chaperone Skp known to serve for outer membrane protein delivery, also rescues the secretory lipase from aggregation and possibly hands it over to the dedicated foldase LipH.
