Membranes are highly crowded by associated and integrated proteins , but the tools to measure the crowding and its dynamics are rare. Maryna has taken the challenge to develop FRET-based sensors, which change their conformation and the signal in response to changes in crowding. Lots of constructs tested, thorough bioochemistry and biophysics behind - now presented to public, and via the open access (thanks Wiley and the DEAL agreement)
